Grants Pass Irrigation District Water Resources & Conservation
Plan
NEWTON conducted a 5-year study to determine irrigation needs, availability
of water, delivery methods, and the future role of the 56-year-old district
in an urbanizing environment. The work included evaluating fishery issues
as they related to the District's diversion dam and distribution system.
NEWTON assisted the District with development of a water conservation
plan; analyzed distribution alternatives and costs; completed public workshop
presentations; and prepared a report. NEWTON helped facilitate meetings
of the 18-person Oversight Committee, coordinated interactions between
special interest groups, and federal and state agencies, negotiated permit
conditions with agencies and environmental groups, and testified at public
hearings.
